Vocation to Religious Brotherhood

“A BROTHER is a man committed to living the Consecrated Life in response to a call from God.
Brothers are engaged in a variety of ministries in keeping with the charism of their congregation and model the person of Jesus through the relational manner in which they serve.”

Consecrated life most commonly consists of living the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience in community and sharing a common prayer life and ministry. A Brother’s ministry generally consists of serving others in non-sacramental ways. The greatest percentage of Brothers today are engaged in education and/or direct service to the poor, ill and elderly.

The Brothers vocation may be lived in a community which consists of Brothers only or of Priests and Brothers together based on the nature of each Congregation.
