Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) Under Way
The annual Diocesan Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) campaign is one of the most important non-devotional events within the diocese. In fact, this call for assistance from parishioners provides much of the financial fuel that helps to keep the Diocese of Reno running.
“There are a number of things that are paid for through the CSA,” said Michael Quilici, Chief Development Officer for the Diocese of Reno. “Going without this program would literally decimate our whole Catholic community,” he added.
The theme for this year’s appeal is, “The Miracle of Sharing: 5 Loaves and 2 Fish,” calling to mind the Gospel of Luke’s account of how Jesus fed his multitude of followers with seemingly scanty supplies.
“Sometimes we may wonder how we can face overwhelming needs with limited resources. Yet when we share what we have, somehow through God’s grace we manage,” said Bishop Calvo in his letter to parishioners.

Blankets of Hope Drive Planned for February 13
The Knights of Columbus from St. Rose of Lima Parish plan a second blanket and jacket drive to benefit the homeless served by Catholic Community Services of Northern Nevada (CCSNN) on Saturday, Feb. 13, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Doughboy’s Donuts, 57 Damonte Ranch Pkwy.
Donations of blankets and jackets were down during a January blanket drive held at the St. Vincent’s Center, with about 300 blankets and 500 jackets collected. The February 13 blanket drive is being planned in an effort to build up the supply.
On average, CCSNN receives between 30 and 60 requests for blankets and jackets on
any given day during the winter months. The donated blankets and jackets can be new or used, and will be given directly to the homeless at no charge.
